Sanctuary as stage: a “Gratitude Tree” in Pécs Cathedral. A plastic tree has been installed in front of the sanctuary inside the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Pécs, Hungary, to mark World Gratitude Day on September 21. Emmanuel Macron’s decision not to attend the papal Eucharists during Leo XIV’s visit to France is in keeping with France’s state religion of laicism. Jacques Chirac did not attend John Paul II’s celebrations in 1997, nor did Nicolas Sarkozy attend Benedict XVI’s in 2008. The only recent exception was Macron’s presence at Pope Francis’s Eucharist in Marseille in 2023, but the circumstances were different: attending the Mass was effectively the only opportunity for the French president to formally welcome the Pope.

The "Farmers" are unarmed Christian villagers from several different tribes who happen to be Christians. The Fulani are NOT indigenous to the lands they are attacking. It is NOT a clash when one side is armed and the other isn't. This means, that when one group that is unarmed is attacked by another repeatedly without interference, qualifies as a genocide. Genocide is defined and includes violent attacks with the specific intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.
